The Beginning

As God led, we wanted to be faithful and follow His calling. Not only did God give us the name for His devotional book, but He also gave the exact number of devotions to be written. We are thankful for our pastor, who preaches the inerrant Word of God each week. Our hearts are touched in such a way that we desire to shout out and run to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. 

“The Greeting” would not be possible, as it looks today, without the talent and insight God bestowed on Barry Shettel, our illustrator. We are overwhelmed and grateful! 

Our friendship began at Talmadge Heights Baptist Church, Athens, Georgia, in the late 1970’s. Then, our paths separated until 40 years later at Prince Avenue Baptist Church in Bogart, Georgia. Our journey together on this book has been a joy and blessing to us. We have also grown closer to God because of this book. The process of turning thoughts and feelings into written words is daunting, but it led us to lean on God even more. 

Our ending is not here – we also know He is not finished with the work He has begun in us. So, stay tuned!
